Just received my new flat iMac. It's a pity, the're no sunglasses supplied.
This screen is so bright, I really can (ab)use it as a bedside lamp for my wife.
This glowing stresses my eyes in such a manner, everybody asks : smoked too much ?
All my friends wants me to reduce the brightness. But no go, I'm unable to do.
Slider setting in Monitor preferences is at the leftmost position and still it's glowing like a floodlight.
Is there a solution to reduce more the brightness than with F14 ?
Maybe in open firmware, or is there a trick I could perform in the terminal ?

theres a neat program called black light (http://homepage.mac.com/michelf/english/software/) which may be of some use, its very cool but you'll have to configure it.

Thanks brodie

Thats what I was looking for. Real cool little app.
Now I can work with my flatMac

again thank you

BTW
Here on Robs >macOSXhints site&forum<
now for over a year, I can find nearby any answer for a thouse rare little problems with new soft or hardware. As well it's a treat to read all this threads. Often I learn more by visiting this site&forum than study a book or ask "trained" stores-men. An answer was: use the slider in monitor-prefs lol.
Even on Apple's site no big help.
Additionally here I find stimulus for new projects and ideas I have.

:D

Black Light (http://www.michelf.com/projects/black-light/) is terrific. The brightness of my new 24-inch iMac's display was really getting to my eyes and I was very happy to find a fix. Thanks!
