I want to check if i have a DVD burner or just a regular CDR burner in my powerbook.

You can go to the "About This Mac" item in the Apple Menu and click the "More Info" button. That will open Apple System Profiler. Under the "Devices & Volumes" tab, look for your drive. If is says anything like DVD-R/W or SuperDrive, you have one. If it says DVDROM / CDRW, you probably don't.

This feature was added recently to the PowerBook line--January I think. What processor speed is your PowerBook? How old is it?

its the 867 mhz 12" powerbook, recently bought it.

I was asking because i had to burn redhat 9 with the commandline too cdrecorder and i had to give the option: dev=IODVDServices to get it to burn, so i was wondering if they might have given me a wrong version or something. But too bad, it's just the CDRW + DVD-ROM :)
