Last night, I updated my OS to 10.1.3. Everything appeared to go fine, but when I rebooted as required, I could no longer connect to the internet. I have tried many times with the same result: the connection log tells me there is no carrier and that the connect script failed. The alert message that pops up from Internet Connect says, "No dial tone detected. Please check phone line connection and try again." Needless to say, I have checked the lines, they seem to be OK, and I am, in fact, using those same lines on my iBook (OS 10.1.2) to be connected right now. So, the problem does not appear to be with the lines.

Can anyone help me with this? If it involves UNIX, I am a TOTAL neophyte with that, so step by step directions would be helpful. If I have to, I am even willing to reformat my entire drive and reinstall 10.1.2. Don't want to, but I could do that and will if it is my best option.

Thank you to anyone who can help!!!

Kathy

haven't installed 10.1.3 yet but .... have you tried throwing out the preferences for internet connect?

Also, try restarting 2-3 times. Throw in a zap pram while you're at it.

I read a couple of threads where folks had to do several restarts in order to solve a few problems and to get their system up and working again.

internal modem / router / ISDN box connection ?

ewww .... egad I'd hate to see you go through the trouble of reinstalling.

Thanks for trying to help, but that did not work for me. I decided, though, to download the update again, only this time directly from the Apple site rather than thru Software udate. I figred I had nothing to lose, but it worked fine for me this time. Everything is as it should be so I'm happy. :) Thanks again!
