Application folder dissapeared!! help!!

Hi, i just bought a MacBook Pro. I wanted to keep my application folder in my dock so i drag it out of the finder window.. then it "poof".. it disappeared.. its not in the trash or on the dock. Plz help.. :(

If it disappeared in a literal, animated "poof" then all you have done is remove the convenience shortcut.

In the Finder, Go -> Applications and you will find your programs. To restore the folder to the sidebar and Dock, choose Go -> Enclosing Folder. You will then see "Applications". THis is the real folder, drag it to the dock / sidebar. This doesn't move the real folder, just creates a reference to it.
