Transferring Photo's from Ipad to Mac

My brother's wife just returned from Europe where she took 6000 pictures transferred to her Ipad. Now she needs to move these 6000 photos to her console Mac so she can edit, organize the photos.

What is the best way to move this massive amount of photos off the Ipad to the Mac.

She tells me that there is no easy way to move the photos.

Connect the iPad and open Image Capture, the iPad should appear as a device with every photo listed. You can now drag them off or directly import to iPhoto.

You might also be able to set iTunes to sync the photos automatically, but I don't recall exactly.
