What type of case have you all bought or do you use?
I have the black Apple case that is $39.
I really like it as it looks very sleek, has the apple logo on it, can stand it up or can use it like a slightly elevated keyboard. Close the cover and it's very unassuming.

The only downfalls...it's a bugger to get in and out of the case and also a bugger to plug it into the iPad dock with the case on. I don't even think it's supposed to be done as it's really cramming it into the plug. I bought the iPad dock extra. I don't think I would buy that again, as I can just plug it in with the supplied USB, 110 plug.
They were out of the Camera adapter, which I really wanted.

iLounge.com is a great source for iPad accessories, including cases and stands. I use a Speck PixelSleeve Plus case. It works fine for me.

... and a homemade Lego stand, inspired by this one:

I recently ordered a very nice one - forget the name now, but then this one came out that would have been better. Better gear comes out all the time though. Can't wait forever.

Well, I just got back from the PO with my NewerTech Folio.

I just about got the iPad into it and was very worried that the straps (too short and not enough elastic) were going to snap.

There is even a pen holder inside that may just hold a golfer's pencil. Any stuff you put in the opposing side will close hard against the iPad screen.

Once in and zipped up, the whole folio has distorted.

Pics on request.

With postage and duties, I am now the proud owner of around $150 worth of garbage. It is not fit for purpose.

Be warned!

I have been using a case from BoxWave for the past month and love it. It is a leather case, where you can flip the cover over the top and either place it in a stand (I like the Griffin stand for the iPad) or it will stand up with the cover flipped over, like a tent.

I just gave my iPad a dedicated spot in my Swiss Gear bag and called it a day. No cases or anything.

Nothing ever happened to it.

I like http://www.marware.com/products/iPad/Eco-Flip-for-iPad Marware flip because when you close the flip top, it covers the opening where you slip in the ipad. There is a small strip of material in this opening, but i feel better having the flip top hinge covering the opening.

I just picked up a targus case that is pretty good. No Matter how you slice it, there isn't a perfect case out there (IMHO).

This one has a strap that holds the front cover when you open it. It is a bit thick, and the external corners can be protected better, but - there you go - it ain't perfect. I will say that I am not planning to drop my iPad either, so the corner thing I accepted.

In case (you see what I did there?) you feel you do not want a 'Mug Me Now!!!!' Ipad bag, I was pleased to find one from CaseLogic in my local Dixons for £16.00p. Smaller than a normal bag but about right for the Ipad, pockets for leads etc inside and out, some padding, a good strap and a carrying handle.

I purchased the $40 Apple case when the iPad came out. It is sleek, but just did not feel durable. I bought an iLuv case - http://www.i-luv.com - I liked the feel of the case, but that metal latch was a BIG problem. If it got flipped wrong, crash, new screen. Plus the angled setup was not that stable. I currently have a Targus case that I really like. I got this one at Best Buy. The interior blue color is a bit loud, but I like the stand and the padding so far. No heavy metal clasps to crash the screen.

I have an iPad keyboard case which can let my iPad also work like a laptop, I like the cool design very much. You can see here: http://www.espow.com/wholesale-apple-accessories-protective-cases-ipad-cases.html

There are many cases for iPad, just choose what you want.

I bought an iPad sleeve (http://colcasac.com/ipad-sleeve) I think this is the right case to protect my iPad from scratches whenever I'm no using it or during travel. I bought it for $40 not bad for the products quality seems to be good as well as the design.

I have a clear Belkin Grip Vue (http://www.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=509984). When traveling I just slide the iPad into a padded sleeve in my backpack. I do a lot of reading with my iPad. The Grip Vue provides just the right amount of friction to keep the iPad from sliding around.

For a stand I use any handy object. When I was visiting my Dad I used a handball sized lemon that I found in his fruit basket. When he saw what I was doing he offered, "We've got a bigger lemon if you need it."

Anyone wondering about ipad 2 sleeves that fit perfectly with the smart cover must check out colcasac website. They got variety of ipad 2 sleeves (http://www.colcasac.com/ipad-sleeve) and best part is that you have the option to get it to fit with OR without the smart case.

Now there appears to be a competitor to DoDoCase - Potenza. They look pretty good.

What I am Looking for for my iPad2 is a case that folds over flat. And has some sort of closure mechanism, and if I'm being greedy - something to hold it together when it is open flat. Oh - by "flat" I mean actually folded back over on itself. Similar to the Targus I have.

I orderd this case from Brando. I love it. I liked the original Apple iPad1 case.

Can't beat the price either.

BookBook for iPad is a great idea, BUT, the iPad can and will slide out of one end, due to the pathetic elastic strap used at that end.

Sure, I can fix it with a small piece of double-sided tape, but should I need to?

Hopefully, their next offering will do better.

I am very happy with my CaseLogic case. I wanted more protection than the Apple Magic cover. This offers good protection, is easy to use the iPad in the case, is not obvious if I leave it on the floor of my car while doing an errand where it isn’t necessary.

http://www.amazon.com/CaseCrown-Apple-iPad-Standby-Black/dp/B004R7A9NU/ref=pd_cp_e_3

However that’s for use around town. If I am flying I use a different sleeve to hold the iPad and my Kindle and have too manage to use the device “bare” while I am away from my hometown. The sleeve is lighter for trips.

I nearly had the IPad drop out again this morning. Double-sided tape is a must today.

Anyway Irene, an iPad AND a Kindle? Isn't that doubling up, or is the Kindle for books not available/readable on the iPad?

Irene

The Kindle ($79 version) is lighter and more enjoyable for reading. The iPad does get heavy for serious reading. Plus I get distracted and start reading email....

GavinBKK

I know what you mean.

I considered an Galaxy Tab, due to the dearth of books available from Apple.

You could turn of email alerts on the iPad though.

I read books on the iPod Touch (using the Kindle App) for a while until my kids got me the Kindle a year ago. I got the iPad for myself a few months ago and wiped my iPod and gave it to a grand daughter.

I did a lot of research. This threads does not all specify Ipad or Ipad2. This leather portfolio case for the Ipad2 is available via amazon is amazing and available in different colors. It is very form fitting and light weight, providing just enough protection. It also supports the wake sleep feature. A case that is not always on and does not cover some of the bezel is not going to help you if the case is is open or the device is out.

This case offers the multiple uses like many including for angling in lap or desk or viewing films.

I can not convey how well this case fits. I have seen crappy fitting cases from other large manufactures and there awful in caparison. There is a reason this case 100s of 5 Star reviews.

I still like this case below. I Have two Ipads in them. Original Amazon link above died. They come in Red, Black, and Tan. Of course a case is very much a personal matter.

http://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Leather-Case-latest-generation/dp/B004TPG3ZS/ref=pd_sim_e_4

This case is light, attractive. Provides very good protection and lets you stand or angle the ipad for typing or viewing. At least the two I got fit more or less like a glove and work very well. The basic design is similar to many other companies cases and was originally what Apple Designed with their soft case for the Original Ipad. The devil is in the details though some manufactures cases even from big name companies are ugly, loose fitting, etc. so where possible it is best to see for yourself. This case is distributed by many made by a company called Yoobao. Besides on Amazon you probably can find a zillion youtube reviews.

Good Luck.

That looks suspiciously like the Yoobao that I have. very good. In fact it almost survived my 4 year-old's attentions for a few months.

Chinese copy of a Chinese product? Whatever next?

03-16-2012, 07:07 AM
It is indeed that case:) And yes it has stopped my 5 and 7 year old from killing the Ipads 2s have. I paid $39. Prices seem to range $29 to 50. Yoobao makes more then one type. Sometimes the cases are marketed under the distributers name.

GavinBKK
03-16-2012, 07:10 AM
Well, the Yoobao was damaged, albeit not fatally.

I think I paid $33, including delivery, for the then Mk2.

Just got an Otterbox Defender.

NO GOOD for kids and arguable for adults.

Griffin Survivor best for kids IMO. Not cheap, however.

anthlover
03-24-2012, 09:26 AM
When you put a Iphone 4/4s into a Defender case your adding 1.8 ounces. The Yoobao adds 6 ounces.....

When you scale up an armored case for Ipad size your adding 1 pound (the Otterbox Defender) and Survivor 1.5 pounds. Almost and literally doubling the weight of an Ipad. The Defender by the way just got updated with the release of the "new Ipad" it now like its phone sibling has a real built in screen protector.

In my opinion a well made leather case is the best compromise for most reasonable protection, good functionality, attractive and light weight.

There are of course zillions of cases made from Woods, plastics, metals, leather, etc.

GavinBKK
03-24-2012, 10:12 PM
Did you put the Survivor on scales?

Irrelevant, 4 year olds are murder on any case.

anthlover
03-26-2012, 10:35 PM
Do you already an Otterbox defender for an Ipad? If not I would recommend the new if your buying that kind of case its got the built in screen protector not the clear mylar thing you have to squeegee on. And yes the new case fits both the Ipad2 and the "new Ipad" Umm Ipad 3:)

GavinBKK
03-26-2012, 10:54 PM
Already had the Otterbox. No built-in SP on this one.

Just got the new iPad yesterday. The wife picked it up for me in BKK. Good grey market here. Trouble is, they preloaded it with a bucket of apps, so just doing a reset now.

Ahh Well it still pretty sturdy but the plastic on the defender bezel really is the only screen protection.

Do they use GSM in Thailand?

GavinBKK

Mostly, yes. There is one CDMA carrier, I think, but mostly GSM by far.
