View Full Version : Tweaking the Dictionary

I found a way to tweak SDEF files so that you could make them different. Look in here (file:///System/Library/Frameworks/OSAKit.framework/Versions/A/Resources/dictionary.css) to tweak the CSS file that formats the dictionary.

I just use ASDictionary (http://appscript.sourceforge.net/tools.html) myself.

Never heard of it. Sounds like it works.

It does work fairly well. I've generated a folder full of HTML scripting libraries that I can quickly call up in Safari, independent of the Script Editor.

Very interesting, but I add a lot of apps over time. Do I have to export the thing Every time?

No - the scripting dictionary is exported to a file (plain text, HTML, etc), so once you have it you can just load it anytime (text editor, Safari, etc). This also comes in handy to compare the terminology of different application versions.

OK, now I get it. It's for individual sdefs, then?
Anyway, I kinda wanted to hack the system just for kicks. Wouldn't be a bad idea to create a backup of the CSS file _before_ you operate in it… ¬_¬
