Hi,
I changed the network on my two machines from using DHCP to manually inputting the IP info in the Network preference pane.
That's all fine and good but now the iBook shows up twice when looking at the server list. Once with the good IP and once with an IP that begins with 169.x.x.x.
Now I've discovered from my research that an IP of 169.x.x.x indicates a dhcp-request ping timeout. That makes sense. But how do I clear this IP? Will it just eventually disappear? It doesn't seem to hurt but it bugs me and my "keeping a tidy house" sensibilities.
Thanks very much.
