I have used the Apple Address book for years though not as long as I had previously used Palm Desktop, which has many address books I will need to export and import. I am running Leopard 10.5.8 at the moment and Antique Palm Desktop 4.21.

Palm Desktop does a good Export as Vcards and Apple Address Book does a good job of importing with the fields intact.

The problem is I would like to be able to specify in advance or some methodology that this group of Entries should become part of a group.

For example exported from Palm and Imported to Apple Address book my Christmas list. But since I could not pre-group the entries I had to then have both programs open and filter in the Apple Address book for each entry and then Drag the entries one at a time to a new Christmas group. Not efficient, but manageable for a small number of entries.

There must be a better way?

Address Book has a "Show Last Import" feature (under the view menu). turn it on, make your import, click on the List Import group in the groups field, and add the contents to whatever group you want.

At the moment mine says Hide Last Import. I will Import another group and give that a try.

At the moment mine says Hide Last Import. I will Import another group and give that a try.

then there should be a green-colored icon in the Groups area called Last Import.

Indeed there it was, silly rabbit I was to do it the hard way:) I little like the Apple Preview interface of showing sidebar too concatenate multiple pdfs into one by dragging them between sidebars. Easy to do if you knew it was there and a mystery if you did not.

Thx again for enlightening my address book use.
