View Full Version : Problem with accented characters in some X11 applications

I am running X11beta3 on a Powerbook
with german MacOSX and german keyboard.

Inside some applications e.g. vim or mutt
I can not use accented characters like Umlaute.
Whenever I press such a key, garbage appears
on my screen. Accented characters appear
fine within the shell (bash, tcsh). The term
envvar is set to "xterm". Setting it to "vt100"
did not help.

Any ideas?
Andreas

ajung,

Did you tried writing in your ~/.xinitrc file:

stty -istrip

Despite of istrip technique, there are some applications which does not handle accentuated characters.
