View Full Version : iPhoto '09: how to turn off the faces feature?

Is there any way to turn faces off? From what I understand there is not a nice and neat button to turn it off (like most of Apple's ways). It only seems to get about a 50% ratio at best and it is so slow. Once upon a time (iPhoto '08) could just close the app and it was gone... Not so now! Any suggestions?

10.6.1 (regretting this)
iPhoto '09 ( regretting this upgrade also)
MBP 2.16 core 2, 2gb ram

Thanks

I don't have iPhoto '09 (nor SL). However you might find it in the defaults. Type this in terminal and see what's available:
defaults read com.apple.iPhoto

Here's an (elderly) article talking about modifying something in iPhoto:

On my Mac, here's what I get:

% defaults read com.apple.iPhoto | grep -i face
FaceSmartAlbumsCreateAnd2 = NO;
NamingFacesThumbnailSize = 0.5;
PeopleDetailShowsFaceTiles = 1;
PeopleShowNewFaceLayer = 2;
ToolbarShowFacebookAlbums = YES;
