iTunes won't import these files

I have a folder with 10 mp3 files and when I double click them, iTunes opens but does not import them into my library, so it does nothing more. I confirmed that they are MP3 Audio Files (from "Get Info"), all of the files are between 5-7mb, and they open/play correctly in QuickTime and Finder. Anyone else have/resolve this problem? Thoughts?

have you tried "import to library" from the file menu?

Yes, and it does the same thing--nothing.

Try MP3 Scan and Repair (http://triq.net/mac/mp3-validator-mac-os-x), (the download link for the beta is about a third of the way down the page). It works fairly well.

That program worked. The problem was:

MPEG stream error, resynchronized successfully.
