Hi all!
My three days old iBook 700 is excellent and working just great. However, when the CD-drive is empty (as in no CD inside) the drive starts producing a ticking sound after a while. There's a tick every second and it's very precise. Ejecting the CD and closing it again will make the ticking stop, but it will start again in 10 minutes or so.
I've seen this reported in several other forums but so far no one has come up with a solution. It's not really a problem to me, but it would be intresting to know what is causing this and whether it's been reported in OS X versions prior to Jaguar (I'm running 10.2.1). Other users who is running 10.2.4 have reported the same behaviour. Apparently it's not seen in Mac OS 9.
Does anyone have more information about this?
Regards,
Leif.
